| Serpent Star ![]() | What about instead of adding LR, how about adding some DR (Dead Rock)? I don't think it will cause any mini-cycles in your tank. You will have to make sure that the rock was not recently pulled out of the ocean or another tank and maybe give it a good cleaning with freshwater to ensure any nasty stuff was cleaned away. Once cleaned, let it sit in the sun for a while to really dry off before adding it to your tank. If this is possible, I would add a little at a time not to scare the fish too much with the new additions to their home... Plus, over time, 3 to 6 months, your existing LR will seed this new DR and it will magically become LR. Pretty cool!! Good Luck and Have Fun!!! |

| Tunicate | Well, my tang is still alive.....and now it's got ich! This is definately a problem I don't want to deal with, especially after reading all the threads on here about it and how to treat it. But anyway, I wanted to let you know that I tried the garlic stuff but didn't help the Tang to eat anything. Of course, if he's got ich now he really won't have an appetite. But I'm still soaking all food in it to keep my other fish healthy. |

| Manta Ray ![]() | Yes, and you dont want to be dosing malachite green in your reef. Most malachite green formula's have Formalin in them, which is lethal to inverts...which is what its sposed to do. Best bet is to remove the fish from the tank, set a small quarentine tank, and treat the fish there. Here is a link to an easy Q-tank biofilter. http://www.petsforum.com/personal/tr...biofilter.html A Q tank only needs to be a glass tank with a filter of some sort, some PVC for the fish to hide in, (or half a clay flower pot),a heater, and frequent water changes, (daily 50% is a good rule of thumb). This way you can lower the salinity which will also help in treating the ich, and you can dose whatever chemicals you need to help the fish. Nick
