Liverock, where does it come from ??

sorry if its a stupid question, but, I have heard not to buy dead corals, because they have to go out and kill living corals from the ocean. So where does liverock come from ?

place a pebble under your pillow at night and in the morning.....lol
live rock is dead coral and reefrock that is collected from the ocean. many life forms colonize it and it becomes "live" many locations now farm live rock, by taking dead coral rock and sinking it in the ocean for several years. it is a repsonsible and renewable resource and as served the reefing community for a while now and will long into the future.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Live rocks were once used as "pet rocks"
