Talking rock questions

We are FINALLY (yeah!!!) done with our construction and ready to start our 75 gallon tank. We are going to to be buying most of our live rock from a LFS. But we wanted to purchase some rock from somehwere else (in hopes of getting some cool hitchikersand a different shape). Has anyone ever ordered rocks from AQUACON or MACRO ROCKS? We were going to get about 150 lbs of rock. How much of it should be live? We were thinking about 100lbs. Is that enough to seed the rest? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: rock questions

Marco Rocks is Awesome and I would recommend them all the way. There rocks are so porous they state 1lbs. per gallon. I would buy about 50 lbs from Marco Rocks and 25lbs from your LFS and seed it. It's cheaper and since your starting out you can save some money to use on some other important equipment. Good Luck and welcome aboard.

Re: rock questions

Most go with dry rock to save a few $$$ - some use 75% dry and up...

a 50 - 50 mix would be nice, if $$$ no consideration you can go with all LR.

Re: rock questions

It really is, Grendal!! We just bought a new car not that long ago and I let my husband pick the color. Now I get to have most of the say about what goes in the tank!! Tomorrow my older son is in a saxaphone concert, so I am off from work, so after that we are going to the LFS to pick out my live rock, so. This really does feel like Christmas in July!!!
