| Bryozoan | need help hello again. thanks for all the help in the past. i was wondering if someone could help me out. my gravel is starting to turn a reddish colour in some spots. also i'm starting to get lots of hair algae. is there any way to remove it? i know i have to buy a RO unit. right now i use tap water and prime. i noticed that i also have lots of little worms growing in my tank. what can i buy to eat them and my triggers won't harm it? thanks for all the help. |

| Manta Ray ![]() | If your getting lots of hair algae and you have reddish brown algae on your gravel, you probably have an abundance of phosphate and might have some nitrates as well. These two compounds are what algae needs to grow in your tank. Using tap water is where alot of this is probably coming from. I would just save up and get the RO unit as soon as possible. As far as the worms go.....they are most likely beneficial to the tank as scavengers. Can you post a pic of them? or maybe describe them? Nick

| Golden Moray | Like Maxx said, it sounds like an overabundance of phosphates. It is highly likely that you have a lot of detritus decomposing in the gravel. One of those el-cheapo freshwater gravel cleaners will actually do a great job for you to remove the detritus before it breaks down. Also, like Maxx said, "Don't worry about the worms". They are actually good.
