| Tunicate | Big Al's, South Florida, Premixed Water For those in the area or in general actually... Has anyone purchased their premixed water, I tried to call and ask but seems like alot of fools there. Is there water ocean water or pre mixed water? Has anyone ever purchased and tested it.... They sell water for 50 cents a gallon...super cheap! Advice!? Cheers! |

| Tubeworm | Re: Big Al's, South Florida, Premixed Water While I do not live there - I recommend you buy a small quantity (.50/gallon is indeed super cheap) and run a heavy chem test on it. For .50/gallon, I bet they are simply collecting the water direct from the ocean or minimally not starting with RO fresh water (which just RO is usually about .50/gallon) and pre-mixed salt is usually around $1.00/gallon (at least in my area). |

| Reef Lobster | Re: Big Al's, South Florida, Premixed Water At That Pet Place, I can get a 160 gallon mix bucket of Instant Ocean for $36-$40 adding up to $0.25 per gallon. There are some things in life that you must rely on professionals for, but this is not one of them. I advise that everyone make their own saltwater.

| Fire Coral | Re: Big Al's, South Florida, Premixed Water I shop at Big Al's in Tamarac, FL, they use RO/DI water and synthetic salt in the saltwater they sell and not natural sea water. While I don't use their pre mixed salt water (I use Tropic Marin and have my own RO/DI at home) I have a friend who uses the store bought water and tested their salt water for NO3, PO4 etc and have found no problems. |

| Scopas Tang | Re: Big Al's, South Florida, Premixed Water I've used their pre-mixed SW to start both my tanks, just picked up 70 gallons over the weekend, and I can say that the salinity is always a bit low...tested out at 1.019. For starting a tank I don't see a problem as there is a month and a major water change ahead but for water changes for an established tank I would just buy their RO water and a quality salt mix and mix it yourself.
