Triggers have a pretty high metabolism, it would be best if you had some one feed them while you were gone....but if ya feed em fairly heavy, (not leaving food to rot in the tank, just making sure that their lil bellies are full), you should be fine.

Wait a minute, are you talking being gone for two days or more? My answer on them being fine was for a two day period....
3 or more and you definately want some one to feed em while you're gone.

as far as feeding goes they will be fine for a few days without food, just make sure you have a good auto topoff system. and it sure would'nt hurt to have someone check on the tank on a daily basis also. good luck and have a great get away.

Take into consideration on how much water evaporation you have a day and like wood said, do you have an automatic top-off? You don't want your spec grav to rise to high.

I went on holiday once for two weeks and left my flatmate to feed my tropical cichlids (the tank was in my bedroom). When i returned, I said to her "Were the fish OK" and her face just went white. Of course she'd forgotton all about them. There were no casualties. I reckon two days is fine . . . .

I don't have any comments because it seems all of the issues have been well answered. I'm assuming that your lights are on a timer, so I might shorten the photoperiod a LITTLE but wouldn't worry too much about it.

I do have a comment about stupid questions. A stupid question is one that isn't asked. That's what the Reef Sanctuary community is all about. You get helped, you help someone else.

In short, ask away because other people will read your NON-stupid question and will get to learn too. A lot of people lurk on these boards....they never post, they just read. Questions help everyone involved.

In a reef tank a 12 hour photo period is the norm. In a fish only tank 8 to 10 hours is fine.

Ditto on Curts comment!
