| Fire Coral | Move complete :) I'm back to posting now as the 2k mile move is now over, we are set up in our new home and whatnot ![]() I have converted (well almost) my 47 bowfront to a salt water tank. Its in the cycling stage atm with a magnum 350 and some sort of dual biowheel overflow filter so as far as mechanical filtration I got that covered in spades . Lighting is an HO T5 2 daylight and 2 actinic bulbs 192 watts (4x48) Currently occupying the tank is about an inch of live sand (from gulf of mexico) I'll be getting another bucket soon Livestock is a single blue crab and two snails (from gulf) and several sand burrowing snails that I gathered from the surf for sand burrowing. I will change this to a reef eventually as I will be setting my 37 up for a "local" salt water tank eventually. I will be getting the protein skimmer and the powerhead next month and the month after that I'll buy my live rock (by then I should have the 37 ready for local livestock....at least the crab and snails) Yes, I know the crab will get massive, when he gets big enough to be a nuisance I'll just take him down to the bay and let him loose. My father gave me a 55gal that I will be using for fresh water (live bearers), plant life will be minimum until I get a T5 big enough for it. Once I get the cycle and hardware gathering complete on the 47 I'll start posting pics and set up a tank chronicle for it. I'll do the same for the 37.

| Torch coral | Re: Move complete :) Not to be a party pooper but i dont think getting your sand from the beach is a good idea. It is very dirty and can cause early problems and possibly in the long run.

| Fire Coral | Re: Move complete :) Thanks for the head's up on the sand. Just figured if its good enough for the stuff out there then it would be good for the stuff I put in. *Note* while not miles out to sea, it was a relatively secluded area with minimal boat traffic. I will keep an eye on it though, thanks.
