What's this on the snail??

Hello all,

Any idea what this is on the snail's shell. One looks like a volcano and the other an oyster with a pearl in it?

Re: What's this on the snail??

On the tip of the shell it looks like a barnacle.
On the lower half it looks like a bivalve of some kind

Looks like a simple bi-valve, maybe a clam. I'm not sure of the species, but it's not a bad guy.

Kinda cool though. Neat to see what can grow and where.

Re: What's this on the snail??

Both of them are no longer living though.
They were a barnacle and a clam as stated above. The "pearl" is a particle of substrate. It's hard to keep barnacles alive. We have had lots in our tank in the past and they all end up someone's lunch.
