| Midas Blenny | sps growth rate I'm starting a 90g with 760 watts of light. 2X250 hqi, the rest PCs. I don't know what I'll end up with eventually but I figured I'd get lighting that will let me do pretty much whatever I like. My question is about SPS frags. The typical ones I see are 1 to 2 inches. With my lights and with exceptional parms how fast will they grow? I now have softies and they grow like weeds. My lps grow much slower. So I figure SPS will grow even slower yet. A better question would be, how much room should I give them? Or is this TOO generic of a question? |

Typical fast growing sps corals would include Montipora digitata, Montipora capricornis and related plating Montipora species, Acro's known as "Bali Slimer", "staghorns", Acropora millepora or whatever lookalike species. Then you run into a bunch of slow growing acros, espcially the "LE" so called rare acros like Torts, etc etc.... So basically, yeah, a bit to generic of a question to answer... Plus it is impossible to predict how fast a coral will grow. I've had frags take off in my tank that grew slow in friends tanks and vice versa even under similar tank conditions.
