that is an understatement. part cause of my overfeeding obsession. tricky little monster. I have him beat now. I hate that he just stares, saying feed me, feed me. cute little bugger though

Re: algae control

How much and what are you feeding?
What kind of algae is it? Cyano?
Regardless the answers are all in Al's post. They key is to remove what you have and starve the rest out.
Fish always act hungry. I could feed them all day and they would still look at me like they are starving.

Re: algae control

I had a huge problem with hair algae, all the advice that is excellent is here in this thread.
I took out all my live rock, scrubbed it, put phosban in the filter, and chaeto in the tank and in the filter and it is GONE. (do a happy dance )

Re: algae control

Phosban is a Two Little Fishes product ... PO4 absorption media ... or GFO (granular Ferric Oxide) ...D-D RowaPhos is another great product for this ... both get used in an fluidized media reactor like the Two Little Fishes Phosban Reactor, there are a few made by different companies ! ... they absorb PO4 from the water so it limits nutrients available for the algae... stuff works pretty good lol

Actually my phosban is just in a mesh bag. it comes with it. my tank is small 12 gal, so the reactor is not easily placed, no sump yet. I put the phosban under my charcoal in the filter, just needs good water flow

Re: algae control

Another thing that will help is to rinse the food in RO/DI water prior to feeding. Most prepared food uses phosphates as a preservative and phosphates feed algae.
