| Bryozoan | algae rock has aptasia I just got some algae that is connected to a rock and the rock has aptasia on it. I didn't notice at first but after turning the lights on it came out. I wanted to see what it was so I tried to move the algae and it broke away from the rock. Can I treat the aptasia without affecting the refugium or the algaes? ![]()

| Tuxedo Urchin | Re: algae rock has aptasia Joe's Juice! It works great. There's also a bunch of DIY methods for injecting the aptasia with all sorts of stuff that you can make yourself. Most (if not all) are safe for treating the affected area in the tank. Their tough little buggers, but they're easy to keep in check, if not get rid of completely. |

| Golden Moray | Re: algae rock has aptasia If the aptasia is in the fuge I wouldn't worry about it. There are some out there that let their sumps, and fuges get full of them acting as a filter feeder type of filtration. Jason

I agree...I've got a few in my fuge and I don't worry about them.

| Tuxedo Urchin | Re: algae rock has aptasia i just delt with this problem 2 days ago. For real just two days ago i had aptasia's know none def. inject the kalkawasser into the apitasia they will shrivel up and die immediately. The upside to using the kalkawasser instead of joe's juice is the fact that it also complements your tank. I added three peppermint shrimp just to seek out hidden apitasia, but i dont think i really need them. |
