| recovering overfeeder | OK just a question, I have seen some picts of tanks with pink stuff (I'm assuming algae, could be wrong, you know what happens when you assume) on the sides of tank covering powerheads etc. What is it, and do you just leave it there, or how do you get rid of it. Seems somewhat common, so I am trying to prepare myself. Pesamisst today, just today though. I can find some pics online on google or something. I'll check. Thanks |

| recovering overfeeder | Re: Pink stuff on sides of tank Ahhh that's what I thought, It's a good algae huh. I didn't realize that it would grow on literaly everything, I thought it was just on live rock. Good to know, thanks for responding AQTCJAK |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Pink stuff on sides of tank It will grow on anything and everything once it finds parameters it likes. Actually it is a bit of a pain and I use a razorblade to scrape it off of the glass and other places I don't want it. I like it on the powerheads since it partially obscures them.

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Pink stuff on sides of tank Newbies always want to get coralline algae growing in their tanks, and will often go to extreme measures to get it going. "Purple Up" and other concoctions at the LFS, scrapings from other reefers, etc. Once it starts to grow however, most of us cuss the stuff. Like Lynn said, on powerheads it's not bad, as it changes their appearance and makes them look a bit more natural, but it can be a real PITA to keep your tank sides and front clean of it.
