| Ricordea | Re: mushroom just like seahorse said give it time. I had about a 1 month period where my green stripe mushrooms almost died for no reason. they are now coming back and are about half the size they were. How long ago did you get the mushrooms? and how long did u drip them? |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: mushroom Oddly enough, mine like quite a bit of light. I know that goes against what is normally said, but it is my experience for what it is worth.

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: mushroom It really just depends on what they are "Accustomed" to. Mine like LOTS and LOW light. The same "Brand" of mushroom.. one crawled off behind EVERYTHING and is HUGE! The others (all were on the same rock) stayed put and are significantly smaller. Size is usually directly proportional to how MUCH light they need. In low light they tend to really expand to expose more area TO the light. High light they look smaller because they don't need as MUCH surface area exposed to light. Hope that doesn't confuse more than help! Also mushrooms (as well as ANY other coral) can pout for no apparent reason. They tend to pout more when disturbed (Moved, cut etc).

| Reef Lobster | Re: mushroom exactly what Al said... if they're small, they're getting enough light without having to expand fully to receive it. Of course there is a degree of growth, but you will be able to tell whether they're truly large or if they're just expanding for light based on how opaque they appear. the more transparent they appear, they more they are "stretching" for light. Likewise, with what lynn said, if your mushrooms came from a reef that was using T-5 or MH lighting, and suddenly they go to a PC tank, they will surely expand a great deal, inversely, if you go from a low light PC tank to a VHO, t5 or MH tank, you will likely notice them shrink, as they need to adjust for such a large amount of light hope this makes sense!Andy
