46g bow - new tank, new inhabitants

Hello everyone.

I have a 46g bowfront under a 150W 10k MH and 2 actintics. Around 63lbs tonga/fiji LR and a 2" SB.

I just had a few questions about my inhabitants and such. Right now I only have GSP and a small LR with a few mushrooms.

We got some fish today along with some snails. We bought two Ocellaris clownfish, a pink spot watchman goby, and a purple stripe pseudochromis. The pseudochromis was something of an impulse buy, and now that I've read up on it, it seems that it's known to be a shrimp-eater. I'm planning on getting two peppermints in the near future. Will they be eaten? Or will the pseudochromis leave them alone? I've also read that the pseudochromis is aggressive. Are the clownfish in danger? Will it leave my goby alone? I'm also planning on buying a pair of firefish. Will the pseudochromis nip at them? Now that I've read up on him, I'm kind of regretting purchasing him in the first place.

I'm considering buying an anemone for the clownfish, although I really didn't want to have an anemone in this tank. Is it beneficial to have an anemone for the clownfish? If it's unnecessary I'd rather not have one in my tank at all since I'll be getting more corals in the future. If we do end up getting an anemone, will the two clowns "share" it?

That's it for questions for now. Thanks for reading!

Pictichromis diadema (No common name)
Is this what you got? If so, they're not AS beligerent as some other dottys. They will probably leave larger shrimp alone. (if it will fit in it's mouth it will eat it). Your other fish will most likely be OK also, but dottybacks ARE tough little buggers, so if it acts up take it back and trade it. Although is extremely hard to do, (I have lots of trouble) research everything you buy and resist impulses. Yeah, ..right!

Clownfish don't need anemones to host them. They will find other hosts or will do fine without one altogether. Mine uses Xenia as it's host, and my previous one used a torch coral. So, an amemone is unnecessary, get something else you DO want.

Nope, clowns don't need anemones in captivity and do great and will reproduce without them.

Congrats on the new purchases. Is this the first addition of livestock to the new tank? Has the tank been fully cycled? That is a lot to add at the same time even to a well established tank. Keep a close eye on your amonia etc and be prepared to do emergency water changes.
Meanwhile enjoy your new buddies.
Oh and skip the anemone at least for a while. They really need a well established tank to flourish. If you don't really want one then don't get one. Clowns are fine without one or will pick a favorite coral and be just fine. I have a maroon clown that has been without a host for at least a year and she doesn't seem to care at all. She defends her area of the tank but doesn't host in anything since my hammer died.

Re: 46g bow - new tank, new inhabitants

Hello again. I just checked some of my water parameters.

salinity: 1.024
temp: 79F
8.5 pH
phosphates 0
ammonia 0
nitrates 20

I did a partial water change (nitrates spiked after adding the new inabitants), and I'll recheck the water again tomorrow.

I *think* it's the purple stripe Pseudochromis, but I could have sworn it was a blue stripe. Anyway, I haven't seen it since the day I put it in. I hope it's alive and just hiding. I've tried looking for it, but I have so many caves and hidey-holes in my LR that if it wanted to remain unseen, it easily could. The goby and the clownfish seem to be doing well, although they aren't eating as much as I'd like. We'll see how they do a week or so from now. The clownfish tend to swim around the top of the tank in the open water areas. They don't seem to interact with the rockwork very much at all. (I'm a bit disappointed, tbh.)

Anyway, that's it for now.
