| Fire Coral | Identification I can see that it is going to be a must to identify and learn about my corals, to know which are hardy and which are not, what depths and what currents they like and if any species don't get on with others. At the moment I know the names of very few of my stock and although the photos in the gallery here are great, I find it difficult to use them to identify my own corals. Whilst I can find similar corals they are not quite the same. Is there any definitive reference point to help me in my quest. Loads of pics of different family members on the same page would be great.

| Reef Addict (hopeless) ![]() | Re: Identification Hey buddy. I just posted over in your other thread about the cycle. Try looking and downloading this program New Website and see if that helps. Also I do some research at Aquarium Fish: Tropical Freshwater Fish and Saltwater Fish for Home Aquariums for some pictures and general guidelines about different corals. Also from this point on I would research the corals ONLINE before you buy them. Often times the LFS's are either un-informed or honestly intentionally mis-inform the reefer about the store's corals. Remember he's in the business to sell sell sell and the more that dies in your tank the more you buy. Also I don't know if you come from Fresh Water or not but in FW tanks it's acceptable (to many anyway) to have less than a year's life span on critters. With SW tanks our critters can live MUCH longer than that so something that dies in just a couple of months tells signs of something that isn't or wasn't right. Good luck and Happy Reefing ![]()

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | Re: Identification I use this page when I have good photos for identifying at least to the genus level. It is easier to usethough if you have a good idea what family or genus said coral may be in though. CoralSearch Search Page
