Re: once white tonga branch lr

It very well could be brown algae, I am having the same problem and my tank has been up for 6 months now. Try cutting back on the time your lights are on and check your water parameters. Also do you have a clean up crew yet?

It's very possible that's it. All of our Live Rock leaves that pristine white color behind. That's actually a GOOD thing. It will turn brown, then maybe green and hopefully ultimately you'll have it colored up with zoas and some other corals

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Well the goal is to have coralline grow over it. Coralline will keep any unwanted algae from growing on it.
Yes you will go through a diatom stage. Try and keep your water prams steady, (ca++, alk, ph, salinity, etc..).

Re: once white tonga branch lr

dont get too excited, it takes about 1.5yrs before it will be considered a mature system. take it slow and things will go fast.

Re: once white tonga branch lr

Looks perfectly normal to me. While diatoms are very normal in a new set-up they will remain if your water source is lees than good. Are you using ro/di for water changes and top-offs? If you are then it will go away with a bit of time.
