You can get it a your LFS. Personally I dont buy any LR from my LFS. I get all of mine on-line. Pacificeastaquaculture.com Liveaquaria.com Reefermadness.us These are all good places to get LR. As far as types go, that is really personal prefrence. I like the kaelini, Huni, and Buna Branch.

You can check your LFS for live rock first.

Personally for me,online was the cheaper and better route even though you can't pic and choose.I've bought both Lalo live rock from Livequaria.com and Uaniva from Saltycritter.com.Both were excellent rocks with lots of color and odd shapes. The uaniva was some of the best I ever seen.

Re: Live Rock, What kind and where?

A lot of it depends on your local lfs prices. I buy pieces here and there from a lfs but the bulk of my LR was ordered on-line. I forget where we ordered from but the above merchants are all good IMO.
See if they have a package deal for 50-75 pounds.
You can always add some base rock or some local LR to finish off.

I would also suggest utilizing the Search function because there are several other threads with this same question. You might find some more useful information as well.
