Can someone post up some names (and, or) pics? of good beginner corals.. and a basic idea of aggression and what corals should NOT go together?

Re: Coral.

Depends on the light that you have, but some pretty hardy ones:

Zoanthids
Mushrooms
Ricordia
Leathers (Practice chemical warfare, running carbon is a good idea with these)
Pagodas

These requre a bit more light, but are still relatively hardy. All may send out sweeper tentacles, so need a bit more space:

Brain Corals (Favia, Lobophyllia, Wellsophyllia)
Bubble Coral

Re: Coral.

I've also had really good luck with branching frogspawn and torch coral as far as Large Polyp Stony corals. Both can send out sweeper tentacles, but if far enough away from each other don't seem to have a problem. Do need good lights though.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Those are some very GOOD suggestions. I have all but Pagodas in both of my tanks with medium level lighting. I also have FrogSpawn, torch Coral and Hammer coral (all closely related) and all of which sting with fore mentioned "sweeper" tentacles. All are doing very well in medium level lighting.

Here's karma to you for researching BEFORE hand!!

Saltwater Fish, Saltwater Fish Aquariums, Live coral, Live rock, and Home Aquarium Supplies
here is a good site for researching corals and fish. I bought from him once but it wasn't a good experience, but his site has great information.

Re: Coral.

Theres one thing i don't understand about selecting corals. The aggression.
I understand that some of them sting other corals but how do you know which ones to select or where to place them? And is it ok to have peaceful and aggressive corals in the same tank as long as you place them further apart? Also Corals that eat fish, Is that a no go zone? OR is it ok as long as you keep them well fed?
I want a tank full of anenome's but i know thats not possible

Re: Coral.

There are different methods corals have of being aggressive. Some stony corals will sting anything up to 3 inches away with sweeper tentacles. Many soft corals will release toxins into the water, so it's important to run carbon with these. Others will simply overgrow their neighbors. You can combine most corals, as long as you look at their specific placement requirements and don't overcrowd.

Flower pot is a big no no. They die in home aquariums no matter what. You will also need to keep the Xenia trimmed back so it doesn't get melted into coral slop by another coral.
As for something for your clowns, they like toadstools, torches, frogspawns... Stuff like that. Sometimes they will host mushrooms. Also, what do you mean by Button Polyps?

Haven't had that happen it either of my tanks and my Xenia (both normal pulsing and Pom Pulsing types) are growing and spreading readily. In fact I've started fragging them for local reefers. Just lucky I guess.

It's true the may host in torches and frogspawn take note that at times they are too rough for these soft skined guys. I've lost 2 frogspawn and as of today 1 torch all because the clown is just too rough. Grrrr
