Re: So, I have aiptasia...NOW what??

If you want to do it the budget way, you can just use lemon juice with a syringe. I have done it in the past with success. The reason i boiled the rock this time was because it was on just the one rock with nothing but coraline attached to the rock. It worked great for me. But since you had corals attached to your rock I would not recommend it.

I've heard of success with vinegar as well. I've always done kalkwasser and recently Joe's Juice, but sometimes those suckers can be hard to stab with the needle Joe's Juice seems to do the job even if you can't quite stab the bastard with the needle.

I use Kalk to kill aiptasia, there is a video on this site AquariumMalta in the Marine section of AM-TV it's in Maltese but surely you can follow the movie.

I HIGHLY recommend Joe'sJuice. I had only a few aiptasias, but the beauty of Joe'sJuice is that you only need to squirt a small amount in the "mouth" of the anemone. As soon as it reaches it, the anemone closes around it and dies almost instantly. Later on it falls off the rock and becomes food for something else!

My personal preference is for peppermint shrimp. They can find aiptasia even where I can't. Also, do be careful, some LFS do sometimes keep both peppermint and Camel shrimp together. If it looks like a peppermint shrimp but has the start of a little hump in its back, don't buy it. Better to look for a store that keeps the two seperated.
