| Brunt of all Jokes~ | Re: ich I dont think so Kevin, now of coarse is the perfect time to end all your ich problems, no additions for 8 weeks and get the qt set up, by the time the tank is fallowed your new stock can be ready, do a search on QT, hypo salinity and maybe life cycle of ich, you dont have to have the losses again ever, but you do have to start off right, post some questions we are all ready to help. Steve

| Sea Pen | Re: ich Exactly, being that the parasite (protozoan) is fully dependant upon fish for its life cycle, having no fish would of course allow the parasite to die off, and as Steve suggested, leaving the tank fishless for no less than eight weeks should see it gone. Myself, I would shoot for three months just to ensure its total irradication. Everything else in your tank is safe from this parasite. If you have more than one tank, just ensure you do not transfer anything between the two tanks, not even a single drop of water. Marine Ich Chuck

If you take this time to do some research and studying, like Steve said, you never should have another ichy loss. This problem will stay around if you restock ANY fish at all. good luck ![]() Allen
