| Achilles Tang ![]() | Wow- big plans. First how large is the tank going to be? What type of lighting, skimmer, etc. I think youre vertibrates would be OK in a very large tank with the exception of the puffer. If you intend to have clams or urchins or other mobile inverts they will be snacks for a puffer. Also the mandarin is a specialised feeder and will require a mature sand bed full of copepods for him to eat. What typeof substrate are you planning? As for anenomes, most will require a mature tank with intense lighting. Also in my experience with flame scallops they are a specialized feeder and are very difficult to keep alive for any length of time. Also they tend to move out of viewing sight to establish their homes. HTH

Flame Scallops are very difficult to keep (long term). The clams are going to need excellent calcium & alkalinity levels maintained, and both the clams and anemone are going to need strong lighting (Metal Halides). Quote:
Just so you know - considering the size tank, lighting, etc. you'd need to maintain all the mentioned critters, you're talking somewhere in the range of $5,000.00 - $15,000.00 (American) for a start ... and a lot of these creatures need a stable/established/mature tank in order to survive. HTH,

I've also seen people put mollies in saltwater as well, but the trick is to do a slow acclimation (like over a 12-hr period) and they should be fine. I'm not sure how compatible they would be with other inhabitants, but their mouths are so small I wouldn't think that they'd do much damage to larger inverts like snails, urchins and shrimp.

| Reef Lobster | Proud..... You should really be planning your tank / budget etc before deciding on such an extensive list of fish / inverts etc. You will be spending huge amounts of money to accomodate this lot and you will need speciality lighting etc to accomodate clams, anenomoes etc. Your tank will also need to be mature (min 6 months) before you can start putting some of your list in and you should add your bioload very slowly (2 fish a month) to allow the bacteria in the LR to acclimate to the bioload

| Scopas Tang | I agree with all of the previous posts- you'll need at LEAST a 180 or 240 gallon tank to accomodate all those critters, plus metal halide lighting, which can get very expensive very fast. You'll also need a heavy duty protein skimmer, heaters, and several powerheads for water movement. If you can't have this large of a tank, you'll have to pick a few of your favorites from your list & stick with those. Once you decide what size tank you can get, we'll be able to help you more with which critters would fit in it, & what equipment you'll need. |
