what is this green algae

Hi everone this is my first post on here. My question is i am getting this green algae on my rocks and glass and its spreading really fast started about 2 weeks ago the thing about it its really hard to get of the glass when i look at the glass it looks like green dust on it its more of a bright green in color i have checked my water levels and they are good i do have reading of nitrate about 10. My tank has been up for 5 months now its a 100gl tank with 115lbs of LR and 145lbs of sand.I am using the Nova Extreme w/lunar lights 8 bulb fixture i have them on for about 6 hrs every day. So if any could tell me what it is that would be great going to try and post some pics hope they come out

spider8u ! ! !

Looks like normal algae growth to me. It's part of the reef ecosystem and it's what makes all the rock look more uniform. I would suggest getting some algae eaters (snails) to help. Keep it scraped off the glass often or it's a BEAR to get off later.

When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend

I run my lights about 6/7 hrs everyday. All my water parameters are normal as for nitrates there about 5/10.I have lots of snails in my tank turbos/crabs/Astraea Snails/Nassarius Snails/Cerith Snail/ and i see lots of them glaze on the glass where the algae is but this algae is hard and they dont seem to be getting it of the glass at all

Re: what is this green algae

I have small patches of it too. It's normal. No need to try and get it off the rocks, snails, angels etc will eat it. Do get it off the glass though.
