| Sea Pen | Re: How do I use my RO unit Show us a pic of what you have. If they were second hand take it apart and replace the filters now. 2nd try to get a part number off of something. If no numbers are found we'd need a picture to help explain hooking it up. Filter change out depends on the quality of the supply water. Most filters will last 6mos to a year. So people who use well water with say, high iron or sulphur will get less. Have your water tested by a local water filtation store. |

It is very hard 500ppm The pH is always high, around 8.4-8.8 depending. Where would I go to get replacement parts? Not many pet stores around here sell marine stuff. The ones that do have a pretty limited selection and don't know what half the salt water equipment does.::bangs head on wall::: Home depot and lowes both sell RO unites, aka water softeners. Would I be able to get the parts there? This thing didn't come with any metal hardware that's needed to attach it to my water supply, like I see on those links. Can I get the cartidages there as well?

| Re: How do I use my RO unit Check out my buddies at The Filter Guys They can set you up with proper filters for that unit and set you up with an add on DI canister. I found calling them to be very helpful. They are reefers and went into filtration supply because of there own finding a need for this. Jim is the man! |

| Watch this Ma! | Re: How do I use my RO unit You know, it's funny because when I measured the nitrates straight out of the tap (I have a well), I was getting around 35. My RO/DI has the electronic tds monitor attached to the water supply, output of course reads zero, input of water only reads two.

When I tested my tap water the nitrate came out to be 0 every time. This was with liquid testers from aquarium pharisaicals. I realize even the liquid testers still have their margin of errors, but 25 from 2 seems like a wide gap. Yikes!

| Sea Pen | Re: How do I use my RO unit RO "systems" are cheap the filters are a re accuring cost of $50 a year. TDS line line meters are ok but not nessary. they messure solids, the solids (sediment) in the water not chemicals.
