| Sea Pen | The Magic is in the water As some of you have been reading my previous post regarding the ammonia rise in my tank. I tested water again and realized the Ammonia n Nitrite had dropped to zero after almost a week of ammonia presence in the water. Then I did a 60% w/c yesterday afternoon... I couldn't believe how beautiful my corals turned into after that w/c. The change was so instant and rapidly. The tenacles of my frogspawn is showing bright color and they seem have waxed a little. Now I have nitrate reading of 3 PPM. What a difference that the clean water can make..I just want to share this with you guys and thanks to everyone who helped me before. I am just very pleased and excited right now. Thanks for reading.. |

| Over Achiever | Re: The Magic is in the water It could if something dies or if you are overfeeding. Ammonia testing can be used to alert you that something is wrong. If you are going along with 0 ammonia readings, not adding new live stock, and all of a sudden the ammonia spikes, that is a warning that something is wrong and requires further investigation. |

| Sea Pen | Re: The Magic is in the water Do you think I can slow down the water testings? I've been testing my water daily since the day I set up the tank, sometimes I test the water twice a day (in the morning n before I go to bed). As the tank getting older, it gets a little more stable? Also the corals are probably the best water quality indicator.. The water quality is bad when the corals are not fully extended.. I'm thinking about test the water every other day.. |

| Over Achiever | Re: The Magic is in the water Eventually, you can go to once a week, then once a month testing, when your tank is fully stocked and stable. This varies for everyone depending on tank size, bioload and maturation. |
