| Tunicate | Technic Replacement Hi, i have a chance of a 1000liter Reef aquarium Second Hand, I know this would be finger in the air but how often would you have to replace Skimmers & Pumps etc ? They are Aquamedic & Tunze. What is the life of this sort of equipment ? thanks Dave |

| DIY Moderator | Re: Technic Replacement There should be no reason to have to replace the skimmer. Over a period of time the pumps may need replaced or rebuilt. But, usually you can rebuild them as long as you keep up on the cleaning of the motors and pumps, as to not cause damage to them.

| Re: Technic Replacement The skimmer itself should last forever, it does need to be cleaned from time to time though. I have had pumps last for years and others not so lucky, as PB said you can usually rebuild them when a problem pops up and it is much cheaper than replacement. |
