Nasarius Snails

Can someone please tell me where to find these nasarius snails as t need them badly i have just started my new marine tank. i have fine sand as substrate and from what i hear and read nasarius snails do a wonderful job of turning the sand over.
I have some hermits but i am not satisfied with their result

Re: Nasarius Snails

There are many places on line that you can order them from... just do a google search and you'll see. I've been able to pick them up locally from my LFS.

Small

Large(Super Tongan)
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...fm?pCatId=1763

There are two types... one is a tiny version about 1/4", and the other is a large about 1"... I believe the large ones go by the name Super Tongan. I have about 60 of the tiny ones and have only found 3 of the large... I prefer the large.

They are truly awesome the way they bury themselves in the sand and leave their snout sticking out. Once they detect any type of food in the tank, it's like a mad dash. They pop out of the sand almost simultaneously... they look like zombies rising from the grave

I highly recommend them...

Re: Nasarius Snails

Thanks JFK but i stay in India and the only cleaners that i can find around are the hermits and nothing else. I have checked everywhere now i think i will have to make a trip to south India since there are some coral reefs in that region.
But that is far almost 700 miles.

That's fascinating... Do you have pictures of your tank that you could post? I'd love to see them!

Re: Nasarius Snails

Thanks for all your replies. i just found a vendor who is ready to supply me with nassarius snails. I think he is going to import them from somewhere outside the country and its going to be a costly affair.
Let my tank settle down a bit and i will post the photographs for you JFK. I have selcted a lionfish for my tank which i am going to get today evening(Indian standard Time).

Re: Nasarius Snails

I have plenty of local fish for him to dine on i dont think he will bother the snails. But will have to take that chance since snails will be an easy prey for him than the local fish which are ery agile.
Anyways thanks Craig will keep it in mind.
