Re: Sea Clone?

Not worth your time to even research them, they are pieces of crap... They will work for about 3 months and then decline from there. They also need constant adjusting. I would save your money and get a Aqua C Remora

Re: Sea Clone?

i have the same opinion on the sea clones. i think there is some mods you can do but still not good. here is a link that might help you decide on a skimmer.
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/cav1i1...mpressions.htm the aquaC series would be a good choice. unless you have a sump then i would go with ASM skimmers.

FYI. dont try to save money on the skimmer.

Re: Sea Clone?

what you pay for is the performance you will get.... keep that in mind. There are no short cuts to any place worth going. I have a Aqua C Pro and it is pulling so much gunk outta my tank it stuns me every day!

Re: Sea Clone?

yes, they are probably one of the worst skimmers made. although, i've seen them take out a bunch on a rock curing tank... The problem is we want performance out of the box. Rightfully so. But if you do want to buy one, I have come across a few articles on doing mods to them to make them run effecient. I believe the article had something about cutting down the inside of the cup to get the bubble over the edge and putting on a better device to adjust the air. But i think most of us would just rather spend the extra bucks on the skimmers mentioned above!! good luck.
I have an ASM now......

Re: Sea Clone?

Maybe something for like a 20gal tank and under but from what I've heard they are crap for anything bigger than that.

No it's not. Lee's protein skimmer is!! That was my first skimmer but I sent it back the first day since it was incredibly too consuing to hook it up. Only cost like $20. But that is like ..well... you know that word .
