| Tunicate | Water temperature too high!!!!! HELP!!!! Hi, im new to this forum and new to the reef and saltwater scene, ive just started a new tank, and am a week threw the cycling process and have noticed that when the lights are on for a long time the temp sits at 30oC rather than a nice 25-28, is this temp ok? or is there anything i can do to lower the temp?? Thanks in advance!!! ![]() |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Water temperature too high!!!!! HELP!!!! 30oC = 86f. Yes, that is too high. I use 8" fans in my sump area to keep my water temp 25.6c-26.1c. Fans work amazingly well but will increase the water evaporation rate so keep an eye on it. If you do not have a temp controller to regulate when the fans turn off/on, you could plug the fans into the same timer as your lights so they both come on/off together. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php You should shoot for 24.4c - 28.3c(76f - 83f).
