Smile And so it begins..... Again ..... Now with PICTURES !!!

After my last episode involving a middle of the night tank crack, 5 day old carpeting, 120 gallons of saltwater, and the effects of gravity, I am HAPPY to report the following.........

Carpet / Pad have been replaced !!!
New 120g tank (60 x 18 x 26) has been purchased and dragged home

So here's how the story goes....

The carpet guys finished up yesterday afternoon. I was excited as heck because I REALLY wanted to get the tank up and running ASAP. Last night, after I closed shop and went home, my wife and I moved the stand back into position and leveled it. We set the tank on top, and we were "off and running" !!! I liked the idea of using eggcrate on the tank bottom under the substrate, and already had the right size from the previous tank (anyone need a snake tank ??? It wont hold water, but should hold a snake ((humor))... I also liked the idea of creating a false space in the bottom area of the tank, so I constructed out of eggcrate and zippy-ties a "hollow" 10" tall x 36" long x 6 " front to back and located / attached it to the floor eggcrate centrally at the rear of the tank. There's a MJ900 at one end blowing thru it, and the flow I have now in what has always been a "dead spot" is incredible!!! Then we started to aquascape... It was at this point in time, that I learned a VERY important lesson....

NEVER....... REPEAT NEVER..... UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, LET SOMEONE WHO THINKS THEY HAVE ARTISTIC "FLAIR" ATTEMPT AQUASCAPING !!!

But, I digress........ 5, yes count 'em....... 5 hours later, while standing on a stepladder, hunchbacked over the tank, after moving / turning each rock a minimum of 38 different ways to see its' "charachter", (and some of theses badboys are 20-30 lbs EACH !), we reached an amicable compromise, and it was now time to fill the tank !!! WOO HOO !!! YEE HAW !!! I had 20 gallons in a barrel, and 20 more in 5 gallon jugs onhand, so I began making 20 gallon batches and filling the tank. By now it's after midnight, and my butt is starting to drag, but I wanted to get it done. My wife, actually a VERY sweet woman who takes excellent care of me (The preceeding was inserted in MY best interest in case she should ever read this thread) volunteered to make the 3 needed runs to the local 24 hr supermarket to fetch home the additional 60 gallons needed to finish up. By the time we finished up with all the little "extras" setting up a new tank takes, it was closing in on 3 A.M. ....... This morning, after a whopping 2 1/2 hrs sleep, the tank looks ever so slightly cloudy, but I expect it should clear very soon..... Perhaps my "bad luck" is behind me with regards to the tank........ Time will tell !!!! I'll try and add some pics tonight / tomorrow. To everyone who has read my posts and offered encouragement, I say "Thanks"

Sounds like you are off and running. Can't wait for pics of the scape. I seem to constantly be changing mine.
Best of luck with the new setup. Keep us posted on your progress.
