| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: cycling a tank with shrimp Yep, and get ready for some serious stink as it rots in the tank, generating lots of nice ammonia. Unfortunately, it's part of the cycle process, but it sure smells nasty while it's doing it's thing...

| Dragon Moderator ![]() | Re: cycling a tank with shrimp A less smelly, slimy method of starting the cycle is to by some ammonia and add couple drops/gallon each day until the nitrite reach around 15ppm and then stop adding the ammonia. Let the tank complete it's cycle naturally and then you'll be good to go.
