Re: Nova Extreme T5 Ho?!?!

I have it set up, I was woundering about the timing. How long should each light be on. It has 4 lunar, 2 x 54w 10,000K and 2 x 54w 460NM lights. I have a timer coming later this week.
Thank you
Rose

Re: Nova Extreme T5 Ho?!?!

I would probably run the actinics for 10-12 hours a day and the 10,000k for around 8 hours a day. Lunars can come on when the other lights are off.
I don't have that light personally so I'm assuming they are all on independent switches and power cords

They are all on independent switches and power cords, the timer should be coming soon. About the lunars do you turn them off or let them run all night?
Thanks again,
Rose

I leave my moonlights on until the actinics come back on in the morning.

Re: Nova Extreme T5 Ho?!?!

You can either run the moonlights 24 hrs. or make them come on when the actinics go off, and go off when the actinics come on in the AM.

Re: Nova Extreme T5 Ho?!?!

Billy i'll be trying Icecap overdriven T5's in my 110 29" deep orrrrr a custom 48 x 30 x 35 starfire once I get a quote. Im pretty sure say 8 T5's working off 80 watts a piece totaling 640 watts will rival most halides. But I got room for 10 if I go to the custom tank, 800 watts!!!

Wow that sounds sweet!! Let me know of the results...

I did read T5s don't push past 15-18" Deep in water though

Re: Nova Extreme T5 Ho?!?!

I have to say I am impressed with the nova extreme 48" fixture (54wx4 bulb). I am running it with an additional 130w pc (36" coralife fixture) with tru 03 and the 50/50 over my new 125 short and it is very bright....I will post pics soon...muahaahhh

I may just get an additional nova instead of the mh setup I was thinking of...

Re: Nova Extreme T5 Ho?!?!

I read something very similar to this on a differnt reef thingy OK

54 watt T5 lamps(2 aquablues and 2 actinic pluses) running in an ice cap retrofit system an inch above the tank put 183 UMOL's of PAR to the shallow sandbed of my 125 18.5" below the water surface. A 250 watt 10K Hamilton DE running in a reef optix lll driven with an EVC ballast with the bottom of the pendant 4" above the tank (which is about as low as I would dare run them) did 152 at the sandbed. I am sure a PFO HQI ballast and XM 10K lamp would have boosted the PAR enough to at least equal the 4 T5's
