Success!!

Did my plumbing wet test tonight and viola......no leaks man was I stoked. Now I sit and wait as my RO units ever so slowly puts out a miniscule stream of water

Anyway, Had a couple of questions.

1. Should I put all my live rock in the tank during the cycle or put some in now and wait till it has equalized a bit before adding the rest.

2. Should I run my protein skimmer during the cycling period?

3. Should I use any lighting during the cycling period?

Thanks for all the help so far folks. I'm keeping a photo journal so soon as I get the time, and figure out how to, I'll put up some progress photos.

Laters,
Stil

Re: Success!!

Congrats on your leak free tank!

1. Put it all in at once.
2. Yes, it will help clean your tank; it does not prevent a cycle.
3. Some do, some do not. If your live rock has any macro algae or coral polyps on it, the light will keep it alive.

Re: Success!!

All the rock at once just so it cycles at the same time; some guys like to skim and have the lights on during a cycle, I think it depends on how much living organisms are in the rock already, but try to keep the light to a minimum, maybe a couple of hours when you can "watch the rock", believe me you will. And the skimmer depends on how much stuff dies from the rock so you can pull it out and keep the house smell free.
This is the perfect time to read all the info you can and plan your tank right.
