| Fish Addict ![]() | Re: visi-jet protein skimmer Nope. It pretty much sucks. I bought one when I first got into the hobby 3 yrs ago, and all it did was spit out clean water and TONS of microbubbles. Yes they are cheap (in two ways ), but I strongly suggest you save yourself the headache and get either a coralife needlewheel 65 model, or an aquaC remora. I currently use a coralife 220 needlewheel model on my tank and I love it. I have also used the aquaC remora in the past (still have it waiting to be used on my 10g propagation tank) and it was a great skimmer.BTW, Welcome to RS! ![]()

| Fish Addict ![]() | Re: visi-jet protein skimmer It is borderline... I think most tanks under 20g are fine without. Frequent waterchanges can help, but skimming is easier. ![]() That being said, as I mentioned, I am putting a skimmer on my 10g tank (a $160 one at that) that is rated at approx. 60ish gallons. My 90g also has an oversized skimmer. The coralife skimmer on that is rated at 220g, the tank's total volume is about 100g w/ sump.

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: visi-jet protein skimmer Gotta agree with Joe. I got one of those as a gift WAAAAAAAAY back when they first came out...(early 90's?) What a POS...even the powerhead is crap IMO...If you really want a skimmer for that, try one of the Sanders air-stone skimmers...(counter current or co-current..don't remember which) Not as efficient as today's needlewheel skimmers, but they DO work... Another option would be a standard Remora. Certainly not as cheap as the visi-jet...but you CAN find them used on RC's equipment forums fairly affordably.
