Another Sump question

Im starting to make templates to create the baffles in my sump. There are very few right angles in the toolbox that I am using to contruct it. Do you all think it is necessary for the baffles to be water tight around the edges or does it matter if some water seeps through?

Thanks,
Stil

Re: Another Sump question

Well it depends on what you are after, if water level in that particular area of the sump is not important then no a perfect seal is not needed, however if you are looking to raise the water level in that section of the sump and possibly have it fall over the top of the baffle to add oxygen to the water then yes it is necessary.... You do not have to have a perfectly cut piece for your baffle, you an always use some Tank safe silicone to seal it.

Just my 2 cents

Re: Another Sump question

If there's a huge gap, micro-bubbles might seep through?? That might be a situation that you don't want...

Re: Another Sump question

I had about an eigth of an inch gap between tank and baffle. I siliconed them in on the opposite side of the direction that water would flow. Getting a bead of silcone between the baffles is difficult!
