| Tubeworm | My first test readings Im still cycling my tank i guess. I have had water and pumps running for 6 weeks, just put 12lbs of live rock,15 hermit crabs in last week and just last night i added 4 damsels. I just took my first test and the readings are: Salinity: 1.021 pH: 8.4 Ammonia: .25 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 20 just wanted to know how will I know when tank has cycled? My tank: 55gal Empior 400, Fluval 304, SeaClone Skimmer, (2) AquaClear 70, AquaClear 50 and 15lbs of live rock (still plan on adding about 40lbs more) Thanks again |

| Smilie Bartender ![]() | Re: My first test readings What kind of kit are you using? The fact that you're reading nitrate leads me to believe the tank has cycled, but since it's young, 4 new fish (and probably some food, right? Remember... stock slooooowly. ![]()

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: My first test readings I would get a second opinion on the ammonia reading. You should slowly raise the salinity up to 1.026 .... Make sure you keep the trAtes less than 10 ppm.
