Re: **~~DOW- Tank Maintenance~~**

OK, all, I have something in regards to tank maintenance ...

I have read two different ideas in regards to water changes. 1) states, weekly to bi-monthly, perform at least a 10% change 2) states, leave it alone, don't worry about changing but maybe once a month, or even longer depending on size of tank.

Now, I'm a huge advocate on water changes, don't get me wrong, but I've also tinkered with not changing for upwards of a month on the 29 with success as well ... just thought I would add to the conversation and see what everyone else truly thought about the subject.

Mods, if I have this in the wrong area, please let me know.

Re: **~~DOW- Tank Maintenance~~**

It is important to strive for the best water paramters possible no matter how many or few water changes it takes. A 100 gal reef tank with one fish will obviously go MUCH longer before needing a water change than a 100 gal reef tank with 30-50 inches of fish living in it.
Lots of factors are involved when discusing needed water changes: bioload, filtration, feeding habits, supplementation, etc.

Recommending a 10-30% weekly water change 'normally' fixes most issues.

There are also other things build up in our closed systems that we do not test for so weekly water changes are always a good thing.

Re: **~~DOW- Tank Maintenance~~**

clean the skimmers once a week.

water changes 5g-10g every few days. (weekly)
power heads every 2 months or 2
skimmer every 6 months
glass 2-4 times a week

clean glass on lights once a month,
drain RODI tank and clean every 2 months, or as needed

i spread it out so i dont have to spend a lotta time working on my tank,

I really have a almost hands free reef tanks

i feed 3 times a week, little bit at a time,

I also harvest my sump algae, when it gets full... and that depends on how the algae grows.
