| Reef Lobster | Re: The "Necessity" of a protein skimmer The best way to answer this debate is to point out the use of a protein skimmer - to remove DOCs from the water column. That's it. If you need one or not depends on many things, included your bioload, aquarium size, frequency of feeding, etc. I personally believe that all aquariums with fish (or often fed corals) can benefit from one, however they are not necessary in all cases. I don't run on on my 29, then again, I currently don't have any fish. |
