Eternal Reef

I found this very interesting, and I would like to learn more about it. Lots of interesting things to read, and learn about how it is done.

Re: Eternal Reef

I saw this on the news. It looks really, really cool but if someone were to be cremated and "buried" at sea, I would think that their family would want a dummy tomb or something to at least visit.

Re: Eternal Reef

Yes I agree, and you also get little balls with it though. Supposedly identical to the one that was put under. You get to "trace" the plaque that is on the ball. It looks all so neat!

Wow Nikki, love your avatar! Gorgeous!

Re: Eternal Reef

Thanks.

Personally, I think it would be awesome, but imagine your kids when they get old and grey, they can't exactly scuba to your gravesite on Mother's Day to put flowers on your grave.

Re: Eternal Reef

Wow! I don't know which I like better...

I thin khaving somewhere that family members can visit is very important. But this way... you are always in the ocean also. The one that you posted isn't that bad of pricing as compared to the one I did, but you are a lot less involved in the second one also.

Re: Eternal Reef

I think it is a great idea, actually if a loved one is cremated you can have some of their ashes put into a necklace, keychain, all kinds of stuff so you can have them near you always. My dad was cremated and I have him in a teardrop necklace (I have never worn it, can't bring myself to do that, but it is in a dome on my mantle, when my mom dies I will hang her next to him), so if you wanted to do this eternal reef thing, you family does have some options.

Can you imagine what the archeologist might think if they stumbled upon that 2nd one in 1000 years.

Re: Eternal Reef

Before my grandparents died, they said "the fish fed us, so when we die, feed us to the fish", so we did and we threw them in Roosevelt lake here in AZ, too bad they didn't have something like this. Of coarse it wouldn't have been the same, not saltwater, but still, would have been neat to drop them down there, together (they died 2 yrs apart).

Which link did you click on? When I click on the link I posted, my computer just says 'do you wish to view the unsecure information on this site'.

Re: Eternal Reef

my dad was an avid diver and fish freak and pilot. he flew the Micronesia run in a sea plane in the 50's which involved shuttling J Charles Delbeek and cohorts around so they could do their thing. he has a commemorative plaque at the waikiki aqaurium. when he passed, it was his final wish that his ashes be scattered to the seas which he loved. in his will he said to the family, "no matter where you go in this world, there is always the sea, so i will always be with you."
