| Brunt of all Jokes~ ![]() | Remote(ish) DSB, Lighted or not building a new fuge 32x 24x 12 tall, a partitioned area at the back 32x6x10 will be filled with sugar sand for my DSB, I expect this to not have the the life present that a display dsb would have, so should this be a black out area or just open to light, Im thinking black out for algae control, what do you guys think? | Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: Remote(ish) DSB, Lighted or not I am just learning that remote DSB's should be one 5 gallon bucket per 100 gallons of tank water. That is with a sand bed 4-6" deep. Hope this helps you a bit Sas

| Brunt of all Jokes~ ![]() | Re: Remote(ish) DSB, Lighted or not Thanks Frankie, I have read up quite a bit, thats why I opted for a minimal amount of sand in the tank, the remotes a different biologically and im assuming reach a greater level of denitrification as well, the light issue seems more nuisance than beneficial, for depth? Ill end up with about 8'' deep but only 6''wide, if I had math skills I could figure out the lbs of sand but its roughly 7gallons, right on the mark ![]() |
