When in doubt... wait it out. This means take it slow and let the tank "develop" and don't rush it. Time is your friend

Re: Are Copepods Visible?

Well, newsflash all. I wanted to see if the chaeto was dying/softening so I picked it up and I shook it real well. It felt firm and I noticed the whitening had gone away; and the algae seemed again shiny and wiry. A minute later on the glass of the chaeto section of the 'fuge with a flashlight; I saw one. Then another! Yup, I can see now they are plenty visible alright! They scuffle about as though they're in a rush to get somewhere. Walking around like cockroaches on land!

Hmm. I'll try to love them and remember they can't make it to my pantry alive. LOL

OK, this is good.

There Ya Go! I had to look close to see the bugs also. Never hurts to shake & turn over the chaeto ball around once in a while.

Re: Are Copepods Visible?

Most copepods are imported on rocks or frags.

When I first started, I bought 22lbs of rock from a local reefer who was breaking down his tank. Instant copepods and coraline!! It was awesome!!

I have pods running around in my tank and refugium. They are as plentiful as ants in a forest. My 6-line wrasse and flame angel eat em up like candy.

It's really cool when you can get a pod loose from the glass and floating around in the tank. My mag float collects pods. They seam to enjoy migrating to the ridges and valleys on the scrubber side of the mag float. I can shake the float in the water and usually knock a dozen of them loose. My angel and 6-line have caught on and now wait patiently as I thrash and shake the float around. As soon as pods start flying off--it's a feeding frenzy. Really cool to watch.

I even saw a pod fall right into the tentacles of a brown button polyp once. The polyp curled up and swallowed it instantly. That was cool.

Re: Are Copepods Visible?

6 line wrasses have pod sonar.
I dropped one in my tank when cleaning and my 6 line wrasse came out of no where and WHAM! Gone in a second.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
