| Tunicate | Adding kalk to ATO reservoir I have a 10 gallon ATO top-off reservoir feeding a 12 and a 34 gallon reef. I'm considering adding kalk to this. Since freshwater is added to the reservoir intermittently, what would be the best way to add kalk to the reservoir? Thanks! Chris |

| Manta Ray | Re: Adding kalk to ATO reservoir I built this (there is a picture of mine on the last page) and it works WONDERFULLY! 4" DIY Kalk Reactor (Probuilder) I forgot the link before, now try it.

| Plate Coral | Re: Adding kalk to ATO reservoir I use a 2 liter bottle or a milk jug. Mix the kalk per instructions. Then i use a drip line with a valve on it made of silcone hosing (same used for air pumps and other accesories in aquariums). I just slowly drip the kalk into the ATO. Then it slowly gets added to tank when needed. Just make sure that if you use the two liter or milk jug you will want two hoses coming out. one for the drip and the other for air.. otherwise the container will crush itself. I just leave it above the ATO and suck alittle on the one hose to let the Siphon start but you could also let gravity do the work. Or you can buy a doser for like $20 bucks.. to me its not worth it. |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Adding kalk to ATO reservoir I have a 12 gallon kalkwasser reservoir hooked up to my ATO inside the sump of my 120 gallon reef. To fill the reservoir, I mix in 4-7 tablespoons of kalkwasser per 4 gal bucket and fill it up. I do not mix inside the reservoir. I let it settle and every 8 months or so, I will clean it out and remove the thick muck that settles in the bottom.
