Octopus to control aptaisia?

While browsing ebay today I came across this interesting listing.
live coral,1 Octopus briareus. med size.saltwater - (eBay item 220174244258 end time Nov-26-07 07:14:07 PST)

Interesting quote from his listing.

Quote:
If you have a saltwater tank these guys are a must. Very reclusive habits, but useful in that it will kill aiptasia and other nuisance pests.Peppermint shrimp are very interesting to watch, but adding them to a reef tank is, in my opinion not a good idea.

Re: Octopus to control aptaisia?

Octopus are very hard to keep. Why would someone sell them to rid tanks of aiptasia.~Michael

Yeah, like I'd trust an octo in a reef tank more that I'd trust peppermint shrimp.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

I'm going to cancel my Sea Hare order and change it over to this!! That would be MUCH cooler than a Sea Hare anyway

My neighbor stuck a little tiny octopus in his tank. It ate everything in his tank, got loose, and died.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
