| Bryozoan | skimmer cup fill rate i just got a new skimmer (odyssea ps75) and it is foaming quite well. possibly to well, i was wondering if about how long is should take to fill the collection cup or probably an easier way to tell is by the color of the discharge. the foam being produced doesn't seem to be too wet, but it only took about an hour to get a few ounces of discharge |

| Golden Moray | Re: skimmer cup fill rate Sounds like you have it about right. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't overflow where you have it set. Your discharge will get progressively darker with time. Also try not to let it get too dirty, as this will affect performance. In a few days you'll be an odyssea ps75 expert! |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: skimmer cup fill rate During the skimmer break-in period you'll usually get a wet foam and it can fill up quickly, is it an in-sump model or HOT ? I've never heard of these skimmers, do you have a photo ? This is what the effluent should look like: ![]()

| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: skimmer cup fill rate Its not how fast it skims, its how well. The whole idea is to let the nasties build up on the bubbles and lift them out. If it looks clear or watery, tune it back a bit and let the foam get a bit darker until the stuff in the cup is nasty dark.

| Bryozoan | Re: skimmer cup fill rate http://www.aquatraders.com/ProductIm...immer/PS75.gif here is a pick of it. it's a hob or in sump type. i guess ill have to leave it turned down for now since ill be out for the next day and a half. i would hate to return to find 10 gallons of water on the floor. right now the discharge is about the color of a dehydrated persons pee so it is a bit wet. on sunday i will post a pic of it if it hasn't remedied itself by then. thanks |

| Tunicate | Re: skimmer cup fill rate Keep us up to speed on your experiences. I'm looking to by one of those models for my own tank and was planning on a 20g sump under my FOWLR when I get her set up.
