Re: Coral of the Week- Ricordia

Matt, I've had them a few years now. Unfortunately, I have lost my log notebook so I can't tell you exactly how long

Witty, they sure do grow slowly!

I have had my oranges for awhile now and they grow pretty slowly too... I love your first ones and the last ones! They are so expensive though!

Re: Coral of the Week- Ricordia

Feed them and they will grow...lol
The Yumas are more difficult to feed IME, for some reason they don't close up like other Ricordeas, maybe the food size has a lot to do it.

Re: Coral of the Week- Ricordia

Do ricordia move in the tank? I haven't seen any of my critters messing with it. Yet everytime I place mine ANYWHERE, I'll come back a day or two later and it will out of that spot and in the sand. Should I just glue it down or what?

Re: Coral of the Week- Ricordia

They need to be glued to a rock to stay in one spot... But they dont move on their own. But they can be blown around the tank if not attached to a rock...

Re: Coral of the Week- Ricordia

Here is the one that I have. It's about a week old to my tank.

It really is camouflaged against that rock. It was a litttle bleached (if that's possible) when I got it and has greened up a lot in the last week

Re: Coral of the Week- Ricordia

Hello all, my 1st post here but I wanted to ask. I know this topic is a little older but I was wondering about that column that was posted back in the 1st page. It says not to hand feed them when they are splitting so if it has two mouths I should not feed it directly? We have had this one for a month it came with two mouths but is not making any progress in splitting into two. Since I had never heard of feeding them directly when I did read it I thought maybe that is why it was unable to split. Any suggestions?

Not sure about feeding but Ive had rics with 2 mouths that took close to a year to split. If you want them to split fast best thing to do is razor blade them right through the middle. Ive seen people cut them in four like pie pieces too.
