| Golden Moray ![]() | Coral of the Week- Euphyllia Hey guys, I am going to try something new here and do a coral of the week! Feel free to post pictures of your different types of Euphyllia! This weeks coral is Euphyllia! Common Names: Torch, Hammer, Branching Hammer, Anchor, Frogspawn, and Grape coral. Lighting needs: Moderate to High lighting for these corals. Water Flow needs- The torches like more water flow than a frogspawn or a hammer likes. Frogspawns and hammers do best with a light flow going across them. Torches on the other hand like a stronger current in bursts, not all the time. These corals are fairly aggressive in that their tentacles can pack a pretty bad sting. Keep at least a 4-8 inch area surrounding the coral, as these corals have a several inch sweeper tentacle that comes out at night. This species comes in many different color variations. With this coral a proper level of calcium, iodine, strontium and other trace elements must be maintained for proper growth and repair. They are fairly hardy and will thrive in a aquarium with proper lighting and a tank that is established. ![]() ![]() Torch ![]() ![]() Frogspawn ![]() ![]() Hammer/ Anchor Feel free to ask any questions/comments/pictures you may have! Hope this Coral of the Week thing works out! Matt |

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Coral of the Week- Euphyllia Excellent idea! These are beautiful corals that pack a VERY potent sting. It can kill or injure any other coral/anemone and leave severe rashes on human skin. Even my haddoni carpet anemones retract from them!

| Manta Ray ![]() | Re: Coral of the Week- Euphyllia These have been good corals for me becuase my fish leave them alone! I like to group them together (they don't sting each other). I can't compete with the photos above, but will share anyway. The link is to a photoshow of my tank so you can see how they are incorporated into it. I will need to move my xenia shortly as it is growing and at night leans too close to one of the frogspawns. I have VHO's and they seem to be fine with that lighting as long as they are placed fairly high in the tank. I have found that the redder varieties take a bit lower light and are a bit easier than the green, but all have done well for me. http://photoshow.comcast.net/watch/Uv8zP3Xr Here are pics of the individual kids I currently have.
