| Tunicate | Well, IMAC has been in Chicago for 5 years but we tried one in Las Vegas this August and it was a disaster. So few people signed up for it and registered at the hotel (the Riviera) that we had to cancel it. We may try to reschedule it for later in the winter but we'll see. But we hope to see all of you in Chicago next May. Cheers, Dennis ![]() |

| Beautiful Katamari | Re: Welcome IMAC! Hello and Welcome! Its great that it is in Chicago! It would be even greater if you could have it in a hotel downtown rather than out in the Burbs! Then you Reefers would have the easier oportunity to see what a great city Chicago is! You woud definately eat much better!!!! I did go check out the vendors market/exhibits this year and it was really cool!

| Tunicate | Hi Everybody; Well, we had a fabulous IMAC this year, all booths were sold out months in advance for the first time and everyone seemed to have a great time. It is unfortunate that we had to cancel IMAC Las Vegas due to lack of interest (or more likely it was the fact that the hotel was selling rooms to the general public for almost half what we were quoted under our contract). But we are trying to reschedule it for later in the winter and we will see what happens. But we are well on our way in planning for the International Marine Aquarium Conference 2008 to be held in Chicago on May 30, 31 and June 1 of 2008. We already have Dr. Ron Shimek (2 presentations), Frank Burr, Scott Fellman, Adam Cesnales, Dr. Sanjay Joshi, Joe Coppolino, Bob Fenner and Anthony Calfo lined up with lots more to come. We will again have our popular “behind-the-scenes” tour of Shedd Aquarium on May 29th, and we will have a tour of LFS on Monday June 2. We hope we will again sell out the booths early so we will once again have a Great Trade Show. So get over to International Marine Aquarium Conference (IMAC) - Main Index to sign up for IMAC and take advantage of Early Bird Registration Rates now in effect.. Happy Reefkeeping, Dennis ![]() |

| Tunicate | Re: Welcome IMAC! Hi There; Have you heard about IMAC? You probably have. It is one of the biggest hobbyist conferences in the country. This year it will be in Chicago on May 30, 31 and June 1. Here is the Speaker List: Dr. Sanjay Joshi Dr. Ron Shimek (2 presentations) Frank Burr Anthony Calfo Scott Fellman Adam Cesnales Jake Adams John Coppolino Dr. Adelaide Rhodes James Fatheree Tony Vargas Tim Hayes Allen LaPointe Tullio Dell Aquila Tom Frakes (Banquet Speaker) Robert “Bob” Fenner In addition to many of the regulars you find at other aquarium conferences, you will find many “new” names on the list since IMAC tries to bring fresh faces to the aquarium circuit. And there will also be a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the Shedd Aquarium, a tour of LFS, a Speakers’ Reception, a Banquet and a Huge Raffle. It is at a pretty good rate right now at $139 but for members of the Reef Sanctuary Board we are offering a special at $125 good until the end of March. So get over to International Marine Aquarium Conference (IMAC) - Main Index and sign up for this special while it is still good. You will have to click on Program Advertising and scroll down past the advertising stuff to find it and then enter the name of this Board where it asks for your Club. We hope to see you in Chicago in May. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with other reef addicts and speakers in a social atmosphere. Happy Reefkeeping, Dennis |

| Tunicate | Hi All; BTW, here are the topics the Speakers will be covering: Dr. Sanjay Joshi: “Reef Lighting” Dr. Ron Shimek (2 presentations): “Currents & Feeding Corals” and “It’s Not As Bad As We Thought; It Is Far Worse” Frank Burr: “Self-sustaining Marine Biospheres” Anthony Calfo: “Aquarium Photography” Scott Fellman: “Marine Biotope Aquariums: Taking Inspirations From Nature” Adam Cesnales: “Form Meets Function: Designing Your Refugium to Work Harder” Jake Adams: “Fluid Dynamics for the Reef Aquarium” John Coppolino: “Rare Angels” Dr. Adelaide Rhodes: “Frontiers in Fish Growing - Newest Technologies in Aquaculture that can help the Hobbyist” James Fatheree: “Tridnacnid Clams – Diversity and Lighting Needs” Tony Vargas: “Tubbataha – Unexpected Paradise” Tim Hayes : “How to Be A Better Reefkeeper” Allen LaPointe: “Water Quality Monitoring and Data Interpretation” Tullio Dell Aquila: “Full Spectrum LED Systems for Aquariums and Aquaculture Use” Tom Frakes (Banquet Speaker): “Global Warming: Reef Tanks and the World” Robert “Bob” Fenner: “Mixed Reef Livestocking: Techniques and Approaches for Avoiding & Reducing Allelopathogenic Effects” On another note, it has been my great pleasure to bring IMAC to the community for the last 6 years but now, for health reasons, it is time for me to step down. IMAC 2008 will be my last. Since many of you have attended more than one IMAC, I have greatly enjoyed the friendships I have built up over the years and I will miss all of you. I hope I will have one more opportunity to see you this year and I wish you continued success in the future with your reefkeeping. I just hope IMAC may have played some small role in that success. Cheers, Dennis ![]() |
