Pocillopora Spawn

Several years ago I had a Pocillopora spawn and I ended up with healthy offspring. 3 weeks ago I noticed some spots on the glass in the back and did not pay too much attention it them. Over the weekend I noticed polyp extentions.

So the questions is how rare is it for Pocillopora to spawn in a captive systems and to do it twice?

Re: Pocillopora Spawn

It's not common, but not unheard of. Good job.

Re: Pocillopora Spawn

yea you mut be doing pretty good for it to happen
its more rare that they become mounted or embeeded on there own but some corals can spawn every month with the lunar cycle that doesn't mean that you get babies
congradulations daddy it's a coral

Re: Pocillopora Spawn

It happened regularly for me when I kept a lot of poci. It is really cool. Mine would start growing on the bed, glass wherever. I got my poci from teri (reeflady) who had full on spawned colonies growning on the glass. It was seriously becoming a nusance for her. lol.

good luck with the babies!
