Another cliff note article on plants. I thought it was helpful and explains some good information on marine plants and species selection.

Marine plants include both the true vascular plants known as seagrasses, and the algal seaweeds known as macroalgaes, or ‘macro’ in the hobby. The most common and least demanding of these groups in marine aquaria are the macroalgaes. Macroalgae are mostly brackish and marine creatures, divided up by color pigmentation into three main groups of Rhodophyta, the red algae; Chlorophyta, the greens; and Phaeophyta, the brown macroalgaes.
