| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: problem with zoos How long has it been since you moved them to the shaded spot? Also, there are other things that could be different besides the lighting.... ask your LFS what salinity and alk they keep their tanks (yours seems a bit low). Keep an eye open for any predatory nudibranches too.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: problem with zoos Ok, did you dip (Zoo Dip) them before you put them in the tank? Are they opening at all? Zoo's typically will go thru a color shift under differant lighting conditions (at least mine did). I found the more light the better they have done, however you can over do it.... just give them some time and I am sure they will come back... by the way Zoo's seem to like Nitrates, also to encourage them to open up for you run your actinics a little longer and the white lights a little shorter. Just so you know, when I put my Zoo's in the tank they where acclimated for about 5 minutes... Zoo's can handle a freash water dip so acclimation is not that important. JMO

| Acropora ![]() | Re: problem with zoos it won't hurt them to dip them now, if there are nidi's eating them them they really have a hard time.... dip them, look for eggs, then wait about 4 to 6 weeks and dip them again... better to be safe than sorry.... a 6 line will help if there are nudi's as well... jmo.

| Acropora ![]() | Re: problem with zoos Scuba22, do a search on this site for Zoo Dip, I posted an artical about it some time ago and exactly how to do it. There is a Nudi that will eat them and I believe flat worms will eat them as well other than that I'm not sure. Right now I have my zoo's in the lower half of my tank (30 inches tall) under T5 lighting, this same tank is housing SPS's as well in the upper half to give you an idea. I also have two Tunze's in there for flow, the Zoo's get a good blast once in a while from the Tunze's. Here is a link to the thread.... hope it works. White tiny specks on my Zoo's?

| Tunicate | Re: problem with zoos Did they resemble small nudibranch's with bta like extentions? If so they are zoo eating nudis. BTW Zoanthids dont require as much acclimation to light as other corals so they should be fine soon. It is totaly normal for certain types to take up to two months to open up fully. ESPECIALY Protopalythoa colonies! As long as they are getting plenty of flow and are at least opening uphalf way exposing most of thier disk, and mouth they will be fine until they decide to open fully. Hope this helps! OOPS! ALSO CHECK FOR HIGH NITRATES They hate high trates! If you have them to close to or downcurrent of a large colony of shrooms or rics they will compete chemicly and act the same way. |
