Question Glasscages

Anyone have one of their tanks. I'm interested in a 120 that's 60" long. Wanted to know what others thought of Glasscages

Re: Glasscages

I have one.

Very negative? when I searched RC there were some lukewarm. one cracked tank and most were okay not great not bad.

That is where I stand. Mine was custom sized. I called and talked to someone there. They wrote down all my measurements. I also emailed a picture with the drilling pattern and how I wanted to overflow. It came out fine. Except that one of the holes for the drain was chipped pretty badly. but the way they do the bottom it is two pieces. The bottom piece was the one that was chipped but the bottom one was not in contact with the water. So I talked to someone when I picked it up to document the chip and I sent emails/pics to them. They looked at them and said it shouldn't be a problem and I had basically came to that conclusion myself. A little unsettling but not something that was going to spread just a chip from drilling.

You get what you pay for. The closest price to the tank I got was more than double their price. I probably would have bought it if i didn't have to ship it. If there was a tank builder closer to me I probably would have went to someone different.

But the tank is built very sturdy. It is very heavy. The silicone job is good. They make nice tanks for the money. They are not perfectionists though more mass production. So if you are looking for a million holes in just the right spots and this and that this is not the builder for you. if you want a basic tank with an overflow they can do an acceptable job. I don't know if there is anyway to make sure that the holes aren't chipped when they drill them. but I am sure this is one of their biggest weaknesses. Oh and don't buy an acrylic tank from them.

the tank on rc that cracked the owner put it on a stand that only supported it on the corners. These tanks are made to be supported across the whole bottom not just the edges like aga/oceanic.

I hope that helps. I probably wouldn't buy another if i found someone else that I could pick the tank up from. i can't seem to bring myself to pay for hundreds of dollars in shipping a tank to the east coast. but I am not unhappy with mine.

Re: Glasscages

From what I understand, the owner is not a "people person". If there is ever a minor issue, the owner tends to be gruff and makes people mad. It doesn't really seem to be a quality issue....it's a personality issue.

Re: Glasscages

I ordered a glass 90 gal tall 250$ shipped they sent me a 90 gal wide acrylic instead because they did'nt want to shipp glass took a week to recieve and everything was good it was packed very well too whenever i called or emailed them i recieved an answer really fast .I would order from them again no problems..The only part i think they could have done better was finish the edges better on the center brace but i can live with that.

Re: Glasscages

Cool, I heard some bad reviews about their acrylic work when they first started making acrylic tanks. The acrylic work probably has improved. kinda like the glass tank sloppy silicone work.

I can here ya about not shipping. my tank was heavy. we had five guys and it still was a chore to lift.

Re: Glasscages

i have ordered from them too thats were i got my 70 breeder the first one arrived broken in many places and i had it replaced free !!!
the tank looks good and is defintly worth the money becouse they are very affordable
but i also have a seaclear acrylic which cost 3 times the price and when you compare the 2 you can see alot of quality differences so you do get what you pay for.
i am going to order from them again
but i did not like there overflow boxes and i have heard others complain about them too that the slots are not big enough to except decent water flow and have to be modified and the trim is kinda cheezy
